ABOUT
In April 2021, the first meeting of the organisation was help. At this, Mr. Joseph Israel Thompson, the organisation's founder, shared his vision and the rationale behind promoting and facilitating rural development in Zimbabwe. Following this meeting the decision was made to establish a trust which would serve as the vehicle to advance the vision.
Rural Enterprise Development Trust was established in November 2021 as a membership-driven organisation with a mission to promote and facilitate economic and social development in rural areas across Zimbabwe.
Borne out of the understanding that rural communities have a wealth of resources which include land, mineral wealth, and human capital, Rural Enterprise Development Trust began its work in earnest to explore opportunities in rural communities across Zimbabwe.
Among other things, Rural Enterprise Development Trust has enabled some of its members to develop food products for export markets, facilitated travel for its members out of the country to explore business opportunities, and helped its members to secure land and resources to establish and grow businesses across Zimbabwe.
Rural Enterprise Development Trust has a membership of over 400 individuals from Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwean diaspora.
OUR BOARD
Rural Enterprise Development Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees which serves to advance the mission of the trust and ensure that the interests of the members are observed. The Board of Trustees is constituted of a group of individuals of high integrity who boast of vast experience in their areas of expertise.

Mr. Thompson has over XX years experience in business. Growing up in a rural community and gaining an appreciation of the untapped wealth of rural communities across Zimbabwe inspired Mr. Thompson to found the Rural Enterprise Development Trust.
